WWE SmackDown Results (7/23/2021): Roman Answers Cena’s Challenge

SmackDown kicks off with John Cena looking for answers from Roman Reigns regarding Cena’s SummerSlam challenge. Cena doesn’t get Roman or an answer but he does get Paul Heyman who comes out to say the Tribal Chief will have answer for Cena on his time.

  • Finn Balor wins his first match back on SmackDown beating Sami Zayn via pin fall after a Coupe de Grace.

The guy who built Corbin’s crowd funding website ended up stealing Corbin’s identity.

  • Angelo Dawkins was able to defeat Chad Gable in from of the Rolling Loud Miami crowd.
  • Bianca Belair retains the SmackDown Women’s Championship after hitting Carmella with the KOD.

We had a nice little brawl between Seth Rollins and Edge. Rollins believes Edge has been taking opportunities from Rollins and skipping the line. Edge wants his hands on Rollins for costing Edge the match Sunday at Money in the Bank.

  • Toni Storm wins her SmackDown debut match against Zelina Vega via pin fall with a double underhook cutter she dubs Storm One.
  • Jimmy Uso defeated Dominik Mysterio via roll up with his brother assisting him similarly to Sunday at Money in the Bank.

Roman Reigns is out to answer John Cena’s challenge for a match at SummerSlam. After calling Cena’s act and persona tired and boring like missionary sex, Roman denies Cena’s challenge. Suddenly, Finn Balor comes down to the ring. Roman thinks it’s to acknowledge him but in fact, Balor would like a shot at the Tribal Chief. The crowd thinks Roman is scared at that may have played a part in accepting Balor’s challenge as SmackDown goes off the air.

WWE Money in the Bank 2021 Quick Results

The following is the results for the Money in the Bank PPV. Full analysis will be given on the Ringside Rundown Podcast this Saturday.

  • The Usos defeated The Mysterios to win their seventh Tag Team Championships. Jey rolled Rey up for the pin and Jimmy comes from behind and gives his brother extra leverage to win.
  • The Women’s Money in the Bank match was a wild car crash that saw Nikki A.S.H. out climb the rest of the competition to grab the briefcase and win the match.
  • AJ Styles and Omos retained the Raw tag Team Titles thanks to the impressive power of Omos dropping Erik of the Viking Raiders.
  • Bobby Lashley retained the WWE Championship in an absolute dominating performance. I don’t think Kofi got more than one minute of offense.
  • Charlotte Flair defeated Rhea Ripley to win the Raw Women’s Championship. Charlotte targeted the knee of Ripley by trapping in in the ring steps and striking it with kicks to the stairs. Charlotte brings Rhea back in the ring then locks in the Figure 8 for the submission.
  • Big E wins the Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match, climbing the ladder and retrieving the briefcase after hitting Rollins with the Big Ending. If the Women’s Match was a car crash this one was a ten car pile up.
  • Thanks to an interferring Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns is able to retain the Universal Championship after hitting Edge with a Spear. After the match Edge and Rollins brawl throughout the arena. As Roman is waiting for the Ft. Worth crowd to acknowledge him, music hits and out comes John Cena to an insane ovation. Cena poses in the ring with Roman looking dumbfounded to close the show.

WWE SmackDown Results (7/9/2021): The End of the Thunderdome

We kick off SmackDown with Jimmy Uso looking to speak with his cousin Roman Reigns. Before he can speak to Roman he is stopped by Paul Heyman who says Jimmy will get the attention of his cousin by the end of the night. Weird, if you ask me.

Roman comes down to the ring to reassure us that he isn’t afraid of Edge. The only reason Edge got the better of him a few weeks ago was a lack of focus. Roman has to deal with his family which allowed Edge is to get the better of him. Roman tells Jimmy he wasn’t around because he was doing what Jimmy couldn’t do, bring back Jey Uso. Roman declares that if Jey and Jimmy listen to him the Bloodline is untouchable. They agree and all three men embrace. Roman can play one hell of a manipulator.

As if losing all of your money, possessions, and right to be called King wasn’t bad enough, Baron Corbin has to watch Boogs and Nakamura ride in on the car he once owned. His problems get worse as he loses a Money in the Bank qualifier match to King Nakamura.

We get ourselves a debut tonight taking on the Women’s Tag Team Champions Natalya and Tamina. Coming up from NXT is Shotzi Blackheart and Tegan Nox now known as Shotzi and Nox. They work together great as a team and even pick up a shocking upset win with Shotzi hitting her Ball pit senton to pick the win.

WWE Official Sonya Deville comes down to the ring to announce who will face Bianca Belair at Money in the Bank with Bayley out with injury. Bayley suffered a torn ACL while training at the Performance Center and will be out for at least nine months. I hope Bayley does make a quick recovery. Deville makes the announcement that Belair will not be defending her title at Money in the Bank but rather next week in Houston for the first SmackDown in front of fans. She will be defending the title against the self proclaimed “Most Beautiful Woman in the WWE”, Carmella. Liv Morgan has a beef to pick with Sonya Deville because winning match after match still has her overlooked. A frustrated Sonya makes the announcement that replacing Carmella in the Money in the Bank will be Liv Morgan. Good for her.

Seth Rollins qualifies for the Money in the Bank defeating a bloody Cesaro with a Curbstomp. The field is now set for the Men Money in the Bank match. From Raw: Drew McIntyre, Ricochet, Riddle, and John Morrison. From SmackDown: Kevin Owens, Big E, King Nakamura, and Seth Rollins.

To close out tonight’s SmackDown Edge calls out Roman Reigns. Roman had instructed his cousins to stay in the back but they did not listen. As they get to the ring while Edge and Roman brawl the music of the Mysterio’s hit but they come from behind to neutralize the Usos. Roman was able to escape unlike his cousins who both get caught in Edge’s crossface. As the show fades to black Edge is alternating cross faces between the Uso twins.

WWE SmackDown Results (6/18/2021): Hell in a Cell on SmackDown!

The show kicks off with Rey Mysterio who says he wants his revenge inside Hell in a Cell tonight. A tearful Mysterio goes from talking about Dominik possibly never comes back to the ring to demanding Roman accept his challenge tonight. The Cell completely lowers, surrounding the ring, and then Roman Reigns comes down to the ring. Roman says he doesn’t want to have to be locked in the Cell having to hurt Rey and offers a chance to reconsider. Rey declines. Roman says he tried to be diplomatic now they have to do it Roman’s way. Sounds like we should be afraid.

Azeez and Apollo Crews def. Kevin Owens and Big E after Azeez hit Owens with the Nigerian Nail. Sami Zayn who was on commentary provided a distraction that led to the pinfall. After the match, Azeez hits Owens with another Nigerian Nail. Sami Zayn calls it “karmic justice”. Kevin Owens goes to Officials Pearce and Deville demanding a match with Sami Zayn. Pearce grants the match for Sunday at Hell in a Cell.

Rick Boogs absolutely shreds the Shinsuke Nakamura entrance. It’s a good thing because after a hard hitting match Nakamura wins the Battle for the Crown defeating Corbin with a Kinsasha. Corbin is King no more as Nakamura is now the one true king. I love wrestling.

Bianca Belair is out to the ring to get a word in before her match at Hell in a Cell. Belair says Sunday she just doesn’t just want Bayley in the ring but she wants her inside Hell in a Cell! First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, and you win according to Bianca. Bayley answers Bianca’s demand to come down to the ring and they begin to brawl inside and all around the ring. It’s Bayley standing tall at the end of the brawl holding the title high before a mirror of the image all around the Thunderdome.

Backstage, Jimmy Uso approaches his cousin Roman Reigns in his dressing room. Jimmy informs Roman that he hasn’t heard from Jey all week, almost like he’s been dodging them. Roman demands that Jimmy find Jey. My only assessment is Roman knows he doesn’t have the same power over Jimmy that he does Jey. That’s why to Roman Jey is so vital. Really manipulative stuff.

We find out due to the attack Montez Ford suffered by the hands of Otis Ford is out for an undisclosed time with a rib injury. Dawkins also has a shoulder injury despite competing in a match versus Otis, or so we thought. The match never started thanks to a two on one attack by Otis and Chad Gable. They absolutely destroyed Dawkins.

Seth Rollins interrupts a backstage interview segment with Cesaro. Rollins is just there to tell Cesaro that he disgusts Seth Rollins and doesn’t deserve a single ounce of respect. Cesaro actually respects Seth Rollins which is why he’ll wait till Sunday to put hands on him. Cesaro does send Rollins flying back into his chair though.

Roman Reigns ends up submitting Rey Mysterio inside Hell in a Cell with an inverted guillotine choke. Mysterio put up a hell of a fight using as many weapons as he could find around the ring but the Head of the Table was just too much for Rey to overcome. After the match, Jimmy Uso enters the ring to raise the hand of his cousin. Roman once again applies the inverted guillotine choke to Rey as the show closes.

WWE SmackDown Results (6/11/2021): My Brother’s Keeper

The show kicks off with Jimmy Uso coming down to the ring ready to bring to light what’s Roman’s issue. According to Jimmy he believes Roman is jealous that Jimmy is back, he wants his brother by his side, and they don’t want to leave Roman alone in the family holding gold. Backstage Roman instructs Jey to handle this. Jey is definitely in a rough predicament.

Kevin Owens and Big E vs. Apollo Crews and Sami Zayn: Owens starts the match off hot but gets grounded by Zayn and Crews. Big E gets the tag in and starts working over Crews. Owens is slow to get to his corner. Back from break with Big E being separated from his partner. When Big E does get to his partner Owens is like a man lit on fire. Crews tags in and eats a Superkick and a pop up powerbomb for two. Things get crazy with Big E dumping Apollo Crews out of the ring. Back inside, Sami gets hit with a Stunner from Owens for the win. After the match, Apollo Crews lays down a challenge for next week: Kevin Owens and Big E versus Apollo Crews and his commander Azziz. Sami Zayn thinks this is a conspiracy against him but eats a Nigerian Nail from Azziz.

Backstage there’s a little trash talking between Chad Gable and the Street Profits. Tonight we’ll see Gable take on Montez Ford tonight.

Roman Reigns is taken aback by Jimmy Uso’s request for Roman to see him in “their” locker room.

Carmella vs. Liv Morgan: Carmella considers herself the most beautiful woman in the WWE. Her words not mine. This match was scrappy for lack of a better term on both sides. Liv hits Carmella with a Springboard Flatliner she calls Oblivion and gets the win. Carmella is still the most beautiful woman in WWE according to her so she’s got that going for her.

Tonight on Ding Dong Hello it’s just one big laugh fest courtesy of Seth Rollins and Bayley at the expense of Cesaro and Bianca Belair. There’s a ring at the door and when Rollins answers he is met with a beat down at the hands of Cesaro. The best down not only destroys the suit Rollins is wearing but the new set for Ding Dong Hello gets demolished too. It looks like Bianca Belair is going to be the one with the last laugh.

Rey Mysterio says by the end of the night he’ll be in the ring to call out Roman Reigns to answer for the beating he laid into Dominik Mysterio.

Montez Ford vs. Chad Gable: This was a back and forth match showcasing the technical expertise of Gable and the athleticism of Ford. Backstage, Otis ambushes Angelo Dawkins as he watches his partner Ford. Back in the ring Ford hits the frog splash. Before Ford can capitalize Otis hits the ring and destroys Ford for the DQ to the amusement of Chad Gable. Dawkins tries to save his partner but gets dumped to the outside.

Shinsuke Nakamura def. King Corbin and keeps the crown thanks to Bugez, for now.

Inside the Usos locker room things come to head with Jey Uso snapping and removing himself from his cousin and his brother. Roman plays the manipulative cousin and puts the blame on Jimmy saying he should be the one to make things right.

Rey Mysterio indeed calls out Roman Reigns. When he does, Rey challenges Roman to a fight inside Hell in a Cell. From out of nowhere a Kendo Stick is slid into the ring and Mysterio goes to town. The stick shots aren’t enough to deter Roman as he drops Mysterio with a Superman Punch. Reigns looks like he is going for the Spear when suddenly Dominik goes to town with his own Kendo Stick. Much like his father’s attempt, the stick does damage, just not enough. Roman hoists Dominik in the air in a powerbomb position and launches him completely out of the ring. Rey goes to tend to his son but gets a boot for his troubles and the show goes off the air.
